Palm Desert is home for us. Birkins Blinds & Awnings is a locally owned small business based right here, and we measure, install and service every blind, shade, shutter and awning ourselves. When you call, you're working with a neighbor, not a national franchise.
From homes near El Paseo to country club communities and newer neighborhoods north of I-10, Palm Desert homes share the same challenge: strong desert sun, long hot summers and windows that face views worth keeping.
Custom window treatments
Every product is custom made for your windows:
- Faux-wood, wood and aluminum blinds with precise tilt control
- Roller, solar, cellular and sheer shades
- Custom shutters for a classic, built-in look
- Drapery, Roman shades and valances
- Somfy motorized shades for big glass and hard-to-reach windows
We bring samples to your home so you can see colors and fabrics in your own light.
Patio shade on demand
A SunPro retractable awning turns a hot patio into a place you'll actually use, motorized or manual, with optional sun and wind sensors. Exterior solar shades stop heat before it reaches the glass on west-facing windows, patios and garages.
Seasonal homes and HOAs
A lot of Palm Desert homeowners are part-time residents. Motorized shades on a schedule help manage the sun while you're gone. For awnings and exterior shades, we'll give you product and color details for your HOA's approval.
Repairs and service
We repair what we sell and a lot of what we didn't: blinds, shutters, shades, motor batteries and remote programming. Our Angi reviewers often mention how fast Chris responded and how quickly the job was done.
Built for the desert sun
We pick fabrics and openness levels to cut glare and heat while keeping your mountain views. A west-facing great room might need solar shades inside and exterior shades outside. A bedroom might need blackout. We'll look at each room and recommend the right product for it. No pressure, and no cost for the visit.
